On July 28, 2026, Meta Platforms and BlackRock announced a venture to develop and own a data center campus in El Paso, Texas. Official Meta investor materials describe 1 gigawatt of planned compute capacity, approximately $14 billion in total development costs, an 80 percent BlackRock-managed-funds / 20 percent Meta ownership split, and an expectation to begin bringing capacity online in 2028. Meta will lease the campus from the venture rather than solely owning the finished site.
