Fayetteville bans new data centers as QTS water accounting draws scrutiny

A March ordinance bars new data centers in every Fayetteville zoning district, while county records and reporting detail an earlier QTS water-billing gap.

Fayetteville Ordinance 26-0-12, adopted March 5, 2026, prohibits new data centers in every city zoning district. Separately, reporting and county records describe roughly 29 million gallons tied to the QTS campus that were not captured in the normal billing process; QTS later paid about $147,000 in retroactive charges, according to those accounts.
